Freeware HTML Editors
AceHTML no longer has a freeware version. Also, note that these HTML editors are all what are known as "tag editors", not WYSIWYG... it's much better that way!
HTML Beauty (syntax highlighting, shortcuts, etcetera — see notes below!)
HTML-Kit (advanced HTML editor comparable to any commercial product)
Notetab Light (advanced text editor with HTML features & clipbook for snippets)
Arachnophilia (hugely popular text/HTML editor, though I'm not too keen)
What I look for in an HTML editor: configurable syntax highlighting, drag & drop text manipulation, keyboard shortcuts for frequently used tags, and a generally configurable interface. HTML Beauty also includes an image browser with automatic tagging, search & replace on disk, integration with HTML Tidy, project management and snippet handling!
